Time Capsule – Cast Bronze Plaque

Time capsules. A simple concept with the purpose of communicating with the future. With an estimated 95% of time capsules being lost by the fifth anniversary of their burial, proper marking is vital. Using a cast bronze memorial plaque is a great way to ensure its location isn’t lost to time.

Tidworth council wanted to ensure that their time capsule would be easily found in 50 years time. They chose to use our cast bronze memorial plaques as a reminder for future generations to come to open it when the time was right.

The large amount of text and sizable council crest on this memorial plaque meant it was going to be an impressive 420mm wide and 300mm tall. This makes it the largest cast bronze memorial plaque we’ve supplied to date. Our off the shelf, tree memorial plaque stand unfortunately wasn’t up for the job. This giant of a memorial plaque required something special.

Not only are we a supplier of outdoor memorial plaques, we’re a supplier and manufacturer of outdoor park furniture, so know a thing or two about making products that last the test of time. Our in house design team drew up a complementary stand made from 75mm box section steel (4 inches in old money), with an impressive 5mm backing plate. At this size it could be hot dipped galvanized, without the 500°C heat distorting its form, making a structure that should last at least one hundred years in the ground.

Our tree memorial plaques, big or small, are bolted using stainless steel bolts and shearing nuts. This will ensure that this plaque will stays in place until its ready to be opened in fifty years.
